Ever heard the phrase “Keep It Simple Stupid”?

The KISS principle was first noted by the U.S. Navy in 1960, emphasizing that simplicity should be a core design goal.

The design of the gospel and of following Jesus is simple. Jesus Christ died for our sins so that we could be brought into right relationship with the Father.

Following Him is also simple. 

Not always easy, but simple in concept: obedience.

As we mature as believers, we often explore deeper kingdom truths, longing to understand more and to grasp the fullness of heaven on earth. That desire is good. Yet how often have we allowed our growing understanding of the kingdom to complicate the pure simplicity of the gospel?

Life and ministry throw us complicated curveballs, and we do our best to navigate them. Sometimes we feel overwhelmed by the decisions and challenges we face and forget that there is Someone we can turn to for strength and direction.

The invitation for us as believers is to simply walk in intimate relationship with the Father, who knows all things, and to seek Him for answers. When we look at the cross and the sacrifice made for us, we cannot help but feel the love of our Father and our Savior.



Can we fall in love with Jesus all over again and allow our relationship with Him to guide and lead us? When life feels complicated, may we simplify it by looking to our Savior and operating from a place of love.
