In 2 Samuel, David refers to God as the Lord of breakthroughs, likening His power to the bursting forth of mighty waters. He is a relentless force flowing through us that can break through any barrier—and He is ready to do so on our behalf. Yet too often we face the boulders of disappointment, sickness, disease, and every kind of obstacle that tries to limit the river of life flowing through us. The enemy comes to steal, kill, and destroy everything good in our lives. He wants to stop the river of breakthrough from flowing. When we focus on those boulders and allow them to build up, what once seemed like a vibrant stream of God’s presence can feel reduced to a mere trickle, leaving us staring at blocked paths and limited possibilities.

But all you have to do is turn around.

When a river is dammed, the water behind it doesn’t disappear, it builds in capacity, volume, and pressure. The same is true in the spiritual realm. Stop fixating on the diminished options in front of you and instead look to the vast capacity of heaven. God is ready to burst forth on your behalf like the rushing of mighty waters, clearing every obstruction and carrying you into victory.
